Summer Sub-Let in Deptford / New Cross

Hey!

We are Josh and Maddie and we are looking to sub-let our room for part of the summer. Ideal dates would be 13th July - 21st August but we can be a bit flexible across July-August so let us know if something else works better. Our place is in Deptford / New Cross. This is a short-term summer sub-let so would be suitable for someone doing an internship, spending the summer in London etc or perhaps someone moving to London who wants to spend some time finding a long-term flat before committing. There will be no possibility of extending beyond the agreed summer period.

A bit about us and our flat! Have included a bit about who me and my partner are even though we won’t be there just so you get to know our vibe a bit!

I’m an English teacher in a state school in Hackney and my partner currently works for a homelessness charity. He has recently got a job abroad in Africa working for a charity so will be heading there soon and I plan to join him for most of the summer. Our room would be the room you’d stay in - it has a king bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a fold out desk plus armchair in it.

Our lovely housemate Martha currently works for an architecture practice while completing her Part 3 training as an architect. She has a dissertation / project due in September so will be spending a lot of the summer working and then coming home to do academic study and work. For that reason, if you were looking for a big party house during the week then this wouldn’t be the right fit! We are very keen to find someone who would get along with Martha as obviously you guys would be the ones sharing the flat!

There’s also Nick, who sporadically stays in our spare room 1-2 nights a week as he commutes to London from Bristol and was finding the commute a pain. He stays in our office/spare room and is super nice but we don’t see lots of him as he sadly tends to work quite late and often isn’t in London! We decided we liked having the office/spare space most nights so the arrangement works really well for working from home and having some other living space during the week/weekend as well as having friends to stay.

Our flat is a two floor maisonette, 3 bed. Our place is a well loved work in progress, fully functional but sometimes needing a lick of paint here and there – we bought it just as the pandemic hit and both our schedules went a bit bonkers! We have a shower with a separate toilet. We then have a living room with dining table and TV, PS5 etc and kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine) plus a little balcony.

We are all pretty chilled, lefty, anti racist, LGBT friendly, eco etc and we eat vegan. Ideally, we’d prefer someone who eats vegetarian but if a meat-eater then we’d just appreciate it being cleaned up well!

Our flat is about four mins walk from NC overground and we are also close to NR services and the DLR plus all the busses! It’s five mins on the train to London Bridge and super easy to get to Canada Water. We are also a short bike/bus/medium walk from Greenwich.

A lot of info there but hopefully it gives a sense of us and our place a little bit. If you’re interested, feel free to ask any questions etc - as we said we’re keen for someone who will get along well with Martha (and vice versa!) as we abandon her for the summer lol!
