Room in gorgeous period flat in Clapton

Our flatmate is moving into with her boyfriend — which means we have a room in our big, friendly flatshare opening up starting in August! Move in date is flexible if you need a place sooner - we have a guest room you could stay in starting in mid June.

THE ROOM: the room is a decent sized double with Juliette doors and period features. The rent is 1050 pounds and monthly bills have been ranging around 185 per person, which includes biweekly cleaners. (We now have a brand new boiler after getting pummeled by the gas bill, so expect bills to go down a bit. :))

THE FLATMATES: You’d be living with Monique (41), me (34), and Peter (8 - feline). Monique is a sommelier from South Africa, and I'm an American working at a travel startup. We each have our own friends in London but love spending time together and hope you feel the same. Monique works hospitality hours so we often do Sunday dinners together or with friends when everyone is free. I work from home most of the week but go into the office on some days. When Peter isn’t pining over the cat next door, Coco, he’s snoozing or on Neighborhood Watch from the window. We're easygoing and like sharing a laugh over a few glasses of wine and some cheese, and we're always game for a relaxed Netflix/HBO binge or dinner just as much as a night at the pub or a concert.

THE FLAT:
The flat is fantastic, - the highlight is the gorgeous living room / kitchen with extra-high ceilings and original Victorian features throughout, filled with art, books, more houseplants than you can count, two couches, and a TV with a vast inherited DVD collection. It opens onto a small private terrace where we’re looking forward to hosting BBQs and dinners and restarting our gardening efforts now that the weather’s getting warmer. The flat also has a large 4th bedroom and small 2nd bathroom on the lower ground floor that serves as a guest room and which we hope to sublet occasionally to get some extra cash for some of the bills and buy some treats for the house! The flat has a dishwasher and washing machine included.

We love the neighbourhood. We’re a 5 minute walk to Hackney Downs, and have two overground stops within 10 minutes (Hackney Central and Hackney Downs). Lower Clapton is full of nice cafes, cozy pubs and wine bars, and we live dangerously close to Yard Sale Pizza, and London Fields is a 15 minute walk away!
