I have one double furnished room available in the Grade II listed Alexandra Road Estate, NW8. This is a rare opportunity to live in one of London's most significant modernist housing estates, within a friendly and longstanding community brought together by a shared love of architecture and culture.

The room would suit a professional in their 30s who works in the arts, media, education, healthcare, culture or related.

The room is a small double, situated on the ground floor, is very secure and invites in lots of light through a large window that looks out over the front garden and a quiet pedestrianised street. The room is furnished with a double bed, mattress, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The large house is split over three levels with a beautiful handmade 1970s open wooden staircase, which takes you up to a large open plan kitchen/dining room lined with windows, plentiful concrete worktops and plywood cabinetry. You then go up again to a large open plan living room and library with roof terrace. It's really unique and if you like modernism and concrete you're in for a treat!

The house is 3-minute walk from South Hampstead overground station (one stop to Euston) and 7-minute walk to Swiss Cottage on the Jubilee line (3 stops to Bond Street). You can be in central London in 20 minutes door to door. There are lots of places that can be easily walked to, such as The Freud Museum, Camden Art Centre, Primrose Hill, Hampstead Heath and there are various nice local restaurants and pubs too.

I am a 40 year old university lecturer in art and the other housemate is a 30 year old scriptwriter. We enjoy cooking and wine, listening to records, reading and watching films but are relaxed and respectful of private space. We’re a very clean and tidy house. If you seem like a good fit, I will invite you for an informal viewing and conversation and will then require a deposit to be paid of one month's rent to secure the room. You will be subletting from me directly and a 12 month contract will be provided.

The rent includes heating and hot water, and the remaining bills are payable to me monthly totalling £100–£150 per person (electricity, council tax, tv licence, internet, bi-weekly cleaner). The house is in council tax band D.
