We’re a married couple in our 30s who rent out the spare room in our house on a short-term basis. We know that renting can be pretty rough, especially for people who are moving into the country/city and aren’t able to view places, or who only need a room for a short period of time. So, as well as making a little extra money and meeting some new people, we want to help people who might otherwise have a hard time finding somewhere decent to live.

We’re looking for someone who wants to rent a room for a maximum of 6 months. The price includes all bills, WiFi and biweekly (once every two weeks) cleaning from an agency.

Our house is in Rhiwbina (CF14). Specifically, we are in a quiet cul-de-sac off Caerphilly Road. It is a semi-detached 3 bed house with a private back garden and off-road parking. There is one bathroom, and one loo (under the stairs). You would also be sharing with our two cats.

We’re both sociable introverts so enjoy hanging out and getting to know people, but also need our own space every now and then! We’re normally up for sharing some food, having a drink or watching something so don’t feel like you’d need to stay confined to your room. Please note that Sophie works from home, and Matt works from home 2 days a week, so a lodger would need to be respectful of our space and time during working hours.

Rhiwbina was a hamlet for many years and retains this identity. This means many local amenities are within walking distance. The village high street on Heol-Y-Deri has:

• Pharmacy (Lloyds)
• Pub (Rhiwbina Tap)
• Restaurants (Juboraj, Mesen)
• Beulah Canolfan community centre

Llanishen leisure centre and Llanishen parkrun are 12 minute walk away and we have several small parks nearby 5-20 minute walk, depending.

We also have a Morrisons (5 minutes walk) and a Lidl (9 minutes walk). UHW is 30 minutes walk.

Transport-wise, we are 20 minutes from Cardiff City Centre (27 bus). We are walking distance to the following stations:
• 2 mins walk to Birchgrove train station
• 2 minutes walk to Birchgrove bus station (imaginatively called ‘Station’)
